This year I spent my winter break in Montreal, Quebec. I absolutely adore the city. I love everything about it–its food, culture, events, shopping, attractions and people. During my week in Montreal, I visited the Biodome, Insectarium, Place des Arts, Mount Royal, Mount Royal Cemetery, Olympic Stadium, the Old Port, Place Bonaventure, Saint Joseph’s Oratory, and my favorite–the Botanical Garden. Every year, Montreal’s Botanical Garden transforms their exhibition greenhouse into a massive butterfly sanctuary where they host their ‘Butterflies Go Free’ exhibit. Thousands of colourful butterflies and moths fly freely throughout the greenhouse. The 2013 exhibit showcased monarchs as its main attraction. It was incredible. In the middle of winter thousands of vibrant butterflies fly about bringing life (and hope of spring) to the city. If ever in Montreal, I highly recommend this attraction.
I’m can’t wait to go to Montreal! It’s next on my list:) My friends and I are going to start planning our trip soon! Aiming for Christmas or January.
Awesome! That’s where my boyfriend is from so I try to go at least once a year. I love the city and could see myself living there. Let me know when you are going because you never know I may just be there (especially around Christmas and the new year).
Sounds awesome! I’m pretty sure we’re leaning towards Montreal around Christmas or New Year’s. We considered New York but my friend is going this weekend so that’s a no-go., Also thought about Blue Mountain Resorts in Collingwood..but we’ll save that for another time.
Ohhh, you would love Montreal at Christmas and there are always fabulous New Year celebrations…BUT…it will be c.o.l.d. Get prepared!

Yes…I’ve heard it reaches -40 at times. I’ll be fine though. BTW…Ripley’s Aquarium is opening here this month and I can’t wait!! I hope they open before my friend from the Bahamas gets here next Friday.
Good thing you are prepared for the cold.
A Ripley’s Aquarium, that’s awesome!
I knoo I’m sooo excited. It’s opening next to the cn tower
I also have this sudden urge to visit all the Ontario provincial parks. I went to Long Point this summer. It was breathtakingly beautiful. So untouched.
That would be an awesome trip.
Definitely! They all look so beautiful!
Where are you from?
Atlantic Canada! Not too far from Montreal! 🙂
Sweet! I have a friend out there who keeps bugging me to come out there. I will one day. Montreal first tho:)
