Labour Day weekend was spent in The Forks, Maine at The Forks Outdoor Fun Resort in the middle of Raft City. Three Rivers White Water offers everything anyone could possibly want for seasonal activities, accommodations, food, and entertainment. With two locations in Maine, The Forks and Millinocket, your options are endless. From white water rafting, skydiving, kayaking, snowmobiling, hiking, fishing, to wildlife safari tours, I know why Three Rivers White Water is known as “The Home of Serious Fun”. Their motto says it all. They have everything!
Three picturesque nights of tent-camping on the Kennebec river was relaxing and enjoyable. Late nights by the camp fire under the stars, while listening to the flowing river was more than I could have imagined. Falling asleep to the sound of bubbling water was a dream come true. I’ve always loved camping, but nothing was better than camping directly on one of the most beautiful rivers in Maine.
I brought my boyfriend to The Forks Maine to go white water rafting with Three Rivers White Water. With his birthday coming up, I wanted to give him something he would never forget! Rather than giving gifts, we have always felt it is more memorable to give experiences rather than presents. I don’t think any adventure in the future can top the one I just gave him. Rafting two days with their 2-day rafting combo on the Kennebec River and the Dead River left us speechless.
When we were rafting, the Kennebec River was flowing at 4800 Cubic Feet per Second (CFS) and the Dead River flowing at 5500 CFS; with those high numbers hitting the rapids gave us a thrill. Nanook, our raft guide throughout the two days, with over 7 years of rafting experience, gave us the time of our lives. Going through the class four rapids on the two rivers and the ‘mile long rapids’ on the Dead River showed me what white water rafting is truly all about. Even when I fell out of the boat in class four rapids, I was still having the time of my life. It happened so fast, but before I even knew it Nanook had the boat controlled in the middle of the rapids and I was pulled into the boat in the blink of an eye! How much more of an authentic experience can you get? White water rafting is one of my favorite extreme sports and I would do it every day if I could.

9. Swimming in the rapids:
10. And finally…fun on the river:
Three Rivers White Water also has a second location in Millinocket, Maine where you can go skydiving and rafting on the Penobscot River with their Jump and Raft package. Hence their name “three rivers”, you can raft any one of the three rivers they run: Kennebec, Dead, and Penobscot. Three Rivers White Water offers many packages and specials for any budget.
Raft the Dead River this October for Three Rivers ‘last blast’ when the river will be flowing at over 6000 CFS! Get ready for the big ‘Hollywood hits’ in the rapids! Are you brave enough?

I’ve been with The Glacier Raft Co a couple times in Montana. One of these days I just want to take an entire summer off and hang out near Glacier Park, maybe get a fun summer job working in the park. 🙂

I’m seriously loving all of these photos! I have only done white water rafting once–at Kern River in California. It was a total blast!

Thanks so much Jessica! It is amazing isn’t it! You should do it again! Were the rapids at Kern River intense?

Yes, they were–most parts we went through were level 2 and 3 intense (do I have the scale right?) I nearly got kicked out of the raft, many many times; it was awesome!

Yes, you have the scale right! That’s awesome! I did get kicked out and it was scary and thrilling all at the same time. Do you think you will go again if you get the chance?

Oh you betcha! I’ll take my fiancee this time. He will get a thrill out of it, I’m sure! I’ll have to look into when the white water rafting season starts at Kern; I think it’s early spring….. 🙂

Awesome! I can’t wait to go again too. Have you tried river boarding? It is when you surf white water rapids on a boogie board…

I haven’t tried that! I might have to give that a go! 🙂 Have you river boarded?

Yes I have. It was one of the most incredible experiences! It was difficult don’t get me wrong, but so much fun! Boarding in class 3 rapids will give you a thrill for sure!

Wowza I bet!! I’ll have to bring a boogie board with me! I never knew about this! I’ll have to mention it to my dad–he loves doing stuff like this. 🙂 Thank you so much for the suggestion!

Yeah, only certain companies will do river boarding trips. It is super specialized. A couple companies do it in Maine. I don’t know about your area.

I’ll do a little research before I go. Thanks for the heads up. Ha, I hadn’t thought about what would be needed to plan it–I just visualized boarding in the rapids and thought, “I gotta do that.” 🙂
