Each year, Moncton New Brunswick’s Celebration Center hosts a Christmas spectacular, but this year they have gone over the top to create a new Christmas show: Celebration at Celebration Center. The city’s Celebration Center is known for its annual Living Christmas Tree, yet this year the Celebration Center has created an entirely new Christmas event. Attending the Living Christmas Tree with my family each each year had become tradition. I was slightly disappointed when I heard the Living Christmas Tree would not be happening this year in Moncton. I was skeptical that the new event could ever top the beloved Living Christmas Tree. I was wrong. The producers of Christmas at Celebration Center claim to have created a “powerpacked evening filled with variety and excitement that will become a night to remember”, and I couldn’t agree more! The show was overflowing with music, entertainment, and talent beyond what I ever expected to show up on a cold winder day in the Maritimes.
This year’s Christmas extravaganza was beyond what I ever expected. They had amazing talent including: Canadian country singers- High Valley, a little bit of Southern Flavour- Red Roots, out-of-this-world vocalists- The Wiebes, and the funny guy- Bob Cates. I couldn’t imagine a better line up. Each set left me speechless. The Maritimes got lucky this Christmas season to receive such incredible talent. Not only that, I appreciated that Christmas at Celebration Center also incorporated community talent into the show: dancing rag dolls and angels. I enjoyed the humour, singing, dancing, and drama on a cold winter’s night. If this Christmas concert didn’t put me in the Christmas Spirit nothing would!
Judging at how successful this year’s show went, I wonder who will be in their line up for next year’s Christmas show at the Moncton Celebration Center! I don’t know how they will top the performers they had this year. For under $20, guests saw artists known for their Juno and CCMA award nominations, Covenant Award winnings, reaching the top 5 on CTV’s Canadian Idol, creating a new sound of country- sweet-pop-country, and putting you in a laughing fit. I’ve not been to a Christmas show with such variety and skill before. Regardless if they create an entirely new event again next year, or do another Christmas at Celebration Center, I know I don’t want to miss it. I know the Celebration Center’s commitment to Christmas and year after year they put on a one of a kind show.
I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas event! I enjoyed singing the classic Christmas songs, listening to new ones, lighting the candles at the end of the evening, and getting goose bumps by the amazing vocal performances. Nothing puts me more in the Christmas Spirit then Christmas music. I left Christmas at Celebration Center wanting to see more. The 4 hour concert ended in a heart beat. I couldn’t believe how quickly the show went. I’m already anticipating next year’s event and Christmas hasn’t even ended yet. Although some might think I am crazy to be talking about Christmas at the beginning of December, but for me Christmas begins the day after Remembrance Day (Veterans Day in the U.S.A.). I’ve been singing Christmas tunes since then. Yes, I am also one of those people who have completed their Christmas shopping AND wrapped all of their gifts! Am I crazy? I might be, but I know I am ready for this Holiday season. Christmas at Celebration Center only reminded me that the full blown Christmas season is here. I welcome it with open arms.
