The El Yunque National Forest (Bosque Nacional del Caribe) watches over the beaches and towns that line the coast. The tropical rain forest has miles of hiking trails, look out towers, stunning waterfalls, and exotic flora and fauna. As much as I love the beach, I also love visiting the forest. Not to mention, I got a pretty spectacular view of the coast line from El Yunque Mountain. There is nothing better then being outdoors whether it be on a beach or in the forest.
With the rain falling every few minutes, the dew in the air made the forest refreshing and energizing. It was a nice break from the hot beach. The vibrant colours of the plants around me glowed with the sun glistening on the rain drops rolling off the plants. The central part of the East coast of Puerto Rico is just as beautiful, if not more stunning than some of the other areas I saw. I was happy to have had left the beach for an opportunity to visit El Yunque rain forest. It really is a must see destination.
