Western Australia is known for its rugged untouched coastline and its turquoise beaches. The Sunset Coast is one of a kind in the fact that each beach looks slightly different with water of different shades of turquoise. Hotels do not line the beaches as they do in much of Queensland and Eastern Australia. As soon as I arrived in Perth, the first thing I wanted to do was explore the beaches on the West Coast. For me, the beaches tell it all. Here is what I found:
Cottesole-
Mullaloo-
Redgate Beach-
Gnarabub-
Surfers Point & Southside-
Rivermouth-
Conto Beach (apparently we were swimming when there was a big shark in the area)-
Hamelin Bay (where we saw dolphins)-
Eagle Bay-
Meelup Bay-
Now that I have been in both Eastern Australia and Western Australia, I am hard pressed to pick where my favorite beaches are! The East or the West? You decide!
I LOVE the west coast. For sure my favourite side. Up north there’s the perfect beach for you; Turquoise bay!
Me too! I can’t wait to go back again and see some more. Unfortunately, I am now in South East Australia. I’ll have to save that for my next trip. Have you written about it?

How did you arrive in Perth? Fly or train or?? In southeast Australia now? Fairy penguins near Melbourne??
I flew from Cairns to Perth and then I flew from Perth to Melbourne. I got some really great deals on flights (cheaper than bus tickets).
Yes, I saw the amazing Fairy Penguins in St Kilda and on Phillip Island. Stay tuned for posts about that.

Wow, you’ve traveled so extensively throughout Australia! You’re living such a wonderful life!
Thank you so much for the comment. It’s interesting to understand the perspective from someone looking in. Being in it, I forget sometimes how much I have seen and get an intense burning to see more. When in reality, I’m doing just fine and can slow down to smell the roses so to speak. It’s been a wonderful journey.
nice scenery!
Thank you so much. I love the beach so much, I especially loved the sunset coast on the west coast. Each beach was a different shade of turquoise. It was just perfect.
