As you may have guessed, or probably already know by now… I love the ocean. Being on, or in the sea is the best place to be (no rhyme intended- that’s the English teacher in me coming out). Whenever I get the chance, I’ll find a way to be on a beach doing what I do best: walking on the beach, wadding in its sultry water, laying in the sand under the warm sun, or being active on it/in it. What goes hand in hand with being a beach bum? My passion for water sports! While in Cuba, I had the chance to sail the spectacular turquoise water on a catamaran and paddle my way through the stunning turquoise blue Caribbean sea.
Catamaran-
Sailing the sea makes me want to live on the ocean and be a pirate for life. A vagabond who owns the sea and lives for the sea; I dream of nothing more than buying a yacht and sailing the world as I discover one new turquoise destination after another. After my wake up call, I realize this might not quite be my reality, but that I can still get pieces of this lifestyle one bit at a time. As I believe, it’s never too late to dream a new dream. I’ll keep dreaming for now.
Kayaking-
If only I could kayak the day away every single day! There is something freeing about being on the water and moving so swiftly and quietly across the surface. Being on the water in a kayak is like no other feeling–as if it’s just me and the world. Free as a fish in the sea. If I had a kayaking goal it would be to kayak in every turquoise destination that I visit! I think I’m pretty close to that goal.
As I have mentioned before, I’m hard pressed to choose my favorite water sport. I love them all; they each have something to offer me that the others can’t. I’ll let you be the judge: snorkeling, scuba diving, kite surfing, surfing, body boarding, sailing, shark tank, swimming with whale sharks, SUP, catamaran, river tubing, white water rafting, kayaking, cliff jumping (yes I said it), body surfing, ocean rafting, and swimming (among others). Which is your favorite?
How do you stay active while traveling?
Such lovely colours. Beautiful post. Thank you for sharing. Miss Cuba.

Beautiful photos! I love the water too and usually can’t wait to get in it when I get to my destination. I love just jumping in to cool off, but also like kayaking and scuba diving, but it’s been a while.

Gorgeous snaps! My favorite activity when traveling is walking to see the sights ~ but we’ve also used kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, sailboats, hot air balloons, helicopters, wave runners, and motor boats to sightsee and sight sea.

Thanks so much. I love ALL water sports, and pretty much tried them all, but when I am not on/in/by the sea I am walking to see the rest. I’ve yet to go hot air ballooning and I can’t wait to do it in the future. How much fun are wave runners?

Wave Runners (aka Jet Skis) are fun, but NOISY. I’d rather glide over the waves without all that VROOM VROOM.

Very true! Tranquility brings so much more healing and connection, rather than just some loud adrenalin. But boy do I love adrenalin sometimes.

Looks lovely. I’ve never done kayaking before. I tend to do hiking, trekking, skiing in the mountains of Eastern Europe or the craggy hills of England, Scotland and Wales, and a bit of horse-riding!

Oh you have to try it, and it’s SO easy too. All of the activities you mentioned are great fun too. How often do you go horse riding?
