Two years ago my boyfriend gave me a gift certificate to an amazing natural spa for Christmas as one of my presents. He told me that I don’t often take the time to pamper myself and he wanted to do something for me that I rarely do for myself. It was a nice treat to enjoy an Aveda lemon mint martini manicure at one of my favorite urban spas-Nakai. Since then, I’ve indulged in at home manicures and pedicures that I have done myself aside from the rare professional treatment that I have done with a friend (buy one, get one free of course). It is not often that I find the time to go to the spa or can justify spending the money on a luxury for me. Yet, it is so nice to relax while enjoying a spa treatment every now and then.
Visiting Cedar Meadows Spa Grande Nature is an opportunity I do not take for granted as it is only a couple times a year I actually find myself in a spa enjoying a service, which has typically been gifted to me or purchased as a group-on or other kind of deal. Spa Grande Nature welcomed me with open arms and put my worries right at ease with a simple pair of spa sandals and plush robe. I entered the spa as a scattered brain girl and was quickly transitioned into a girl without a care in the world. My spa care professional put me at ease with her gentle and kind voice. I was ready for my day of relaxation and the spa’s deluxe facial and pedicure would take me there.
My poor face has been neglected over the last 12 months since traveling with only a carry-on limits what kind of cosmetics I can travel with. I have been traveling with only the bare minimums (and less). My sore, over-walked feet have also been neglected as I’ve on countless occasions walked miles and miles in just a pair of havaianas. A facial and pedicure would do wonders for my traveled skin. Spa Grande Nature provided for me something I wouldn’t normally do at home in my own time. The experience was a success!
My first facial was even better than I’d imagined. The relaxing ritual brought my skin back to life with the all-natural, organic, and GMO-free Eminence Organic Skin Care line. The strawberry-rhubard facial scrub washed my worries away, brightened my face, and made me anew. The foot soak and foot massage awakened my senses and rejuvinated my feet for another journey. It’s amazing what an afternoon at the spa can do for the body and soul–physically, mentally, and emotionally. I went into the treatments thinking about all the things on my to-do list, however, minutes into the treatment I forgot about what needed to be done and enjoyed being in the moment.
It’s moments like this when I am thankful that I have tried something new, even something as simple as getting a facial. It was something simple which gave me new perspective on life and allowed me to appreciate the moment, while taking time for myself after a long journey abroad. I will not take the spa for granted because it was exactly was the doctor prescribed for this busy body and traveling life.
