Due to the fact that we’re getting married on a tropical island, we won’t be doing a honeymoon right away. Technically, our dream turquoise wedding is a wedding and honeymoon in one; however, we’d still like to go on a honeymoon at some point after the wedding. At this point, we’re hoping to depart to a turquoise destination for some relaxing in the sun during our first 6 months of marriage. We’ve talked about a few locations like Mexico, Greece, and Thailand, but I’m wondering if you have any budget friendly honeymoon suggestions. Is it possible to go to the Maldives, Tahiti, Fiji, or alike on a shoe string budget? Is resorting to backpacking our only option? We’d love to have some luxury, while staying local and saving money. I’m wondering if any of you planned a money saving holiday that you could recommend to us.
Any suggestions of where we should go for our honeymoon?
I haven’t been to a lot of exotic places, but I’m always a sucker for the Caribbean waters and want to renew my vows with my husband in the Bahamas on one of the Out Islands. Good luck!
Me tooo! We are already getting married in the Caribbean so we were hoping to go elsewhere. However, with that being said, knowing that we love the Caribbean so much, we might just stick around. Mexico on the Caribbean side is our back up option. Thanks so much for the advice. The Bahamas is fabulous.
I went to Maldives last year and it was beautiful! You can read more about it here: https://neptunethings.wordpress.com/2014/05/19/may-in-maldives/
I also just googled about travelling cheap in the Maldives and I found something which might help you! http://www.neverendingfootsteps.com/2014/09/15/how-to-travel-the-maldives-on-a-budget/
A cheaper beach alternative might be Krabi or Phuket in Thailand – I’ve been to both places before and it was really affordable. Good luck with your honeymoon planning!
Thank you so much for the amazing advice. I’m going to look into the links you have shared with me. I’d love to make the Maldives work if possible.
If you’re looking for somewhere relaxing in Greece you should check out Kefalonia. It’s one of the quieter islands, with no chains or franchises. You can also easily visit the mainland, Corfu and Zante from there. It’s not too expensive either. I’d recommend making the extra transfer journey time to the south of the island and staying in Scala, it’s much more beautiful and chilled out than resorts closer to the airport 🙂
Thank you so much for the trips of where to go in Greece. We would love to go there, but it is always hard to know where to begin or where to visit. Great ideas. I will research more into Kefalonia.
Belgium!
Yummy! Belgium is one of my favorite countries. The food is so good. Where in Belgium would you recommend? I’ve only been to one city in Belgium, and would love to explore more.
Brussels!
Somewhere very different. Antarctica?
Palawan, Philippines 🙂
Thank you so much for the suggestion! It’s a turquoise paradise.
