Saying Yes! Starting my 500 Hour Advanced Yoga Training

Halifax, NS

Breathing Space Yoga StudioWhat’s next for me? Well, aside from taking a huge leap of faith to move to the north, starting a new job, and teaching yoga, I’ve decided to start my 500 hour advanced yoga teacher training! I started my 500 hour advanced with Breathing Space Yoga Studio in October with my first training weekend taking place in Halifax, NS. My first workshop was focused on yin yoga. I’m excited to broaden my yoga knowledge, where my first 400 hours of training focused on vinyasa yoga and yoga for schools. Starting my program this fall gave me a good excuse to head back to the east coast. I was away from the east coast a month and was already itching to return.Halifax, NS

Although I’ve started my advanced training, I’m in no rush to complete it anytime soon. I’m happy to continue my yoga journey as a teacher and student–the learning never ends (and it shouldn’t). The yoga teachers I enjoyed practicing with the most in Moncton, NB were life long learners and active participants in attending upgrading workshops. The difference is noticeable. To give myself time to take in all that I’m learning, I’ll take my time to complete my program while continuing to gain experience as a yoga teacher.Halifax, NS

Canadian Fall SeasonI’m excited at the possibilities to come. I’m taking advantage of every opportunity that I can get my hands on in this beautiful life I have created. I’m seeking out ways to live my life to the fullest–this is not a passive action, but rather I’m an active participant in walking through the doors that open for me. Some would say I have a type “A” personality, I’m an ‘overachiever’, and others call me crazy! In any case, I wouldn’t want to live any other way. I’m blindly saying “yes”, walking through the open doors, and continuing down unknown paths ready for adventure!

When you come to a fork in the road, which path will you take, the groomed trail or the road less traveled?

  1. Very happy for you. The yoga path can only lead to better and brighter paths. I believe in yoga as a science and as an art. As a type not typical quiet yogi i urge you to ignore the typical and connect to your true unique self.Namaste!!!
I feel the need to take up some more training myself…one day…Enjoy!!!

    • Thank you so much. I appreciate your heart felt comment. Yoga truly does offer us so much. It really did change my life. Yoga was the only thing that got me through some really dark times in the past. I’m working on finding my purest self and will for sure dig deep to find my true unique self. Thank you for the advice,

  2. Congratulations on your next adventure! I’m so thrilled for you! And yes, my yin teacher is a ‘type A’ and it has helped her slow down and balance herself out a bit 😉 Enjoy and look forward to hearing how it goes. My hubby and I are always trying to take the road less travelled – it just makes life a bit more interesting! In saying that, it is easier to just stay comfortable sometimes! But hey, comfortable often feels boring and we don’t feel like we are growing. x

    • Thank you so much Nikki. I’m really excited and I’m glad to share my excitement with others. Yoga has really helped me to slow down and appreciate each moment. I’m glad to see that yoga is helping other ‘type A’ personalities. I look forward to sharing my journey as I go forth. It’s fun to take the untraveled road like you said, but it does take courage and strength (in the beginning). Change feels so good, even though it’s hard to leave our comfort zone. Keep living life to the fullest. Any adventures planned on your end?

  3. Road less travelled.
You are a great teacher Jessica. A great teacher knows, that you are never ending education and need to learn new every day.
So happy that you are living your life like you wish to 🙂

  4. Excellent news! I’ve recently started my own yoga journey… and it’s been an achey-ouch-fest so far… But I am loving it! 🙂
