I know you’ve been anxiously waiting for an update about our out-of-this-world honeymoon. Our honeymoon along the Caribbean turquoise coast in Mexico was spectacular! I don’t even know where to begin! We had it all…turquoise paradise, relaxation, romance, and adventure. Here are our TOP 10 favourite adventurous photos from our honeymoon in Mexico, Mayan Riviera from our ATV trek through the Mayan jungle, underground cave swimming in Cenote Estrella, explorations at the Tulum Ruins, and getting our feet wet at the Tulum Ruins Beach with Adventuras Mayas.
Who says you can’t ‘adventure’ when honeymooning? I’m all about relaxing on a beautiful turquoise beach, but we also wanted ADVENTURE! We got it all.
Are you with me? What’s your perfect type of travel?

I can’t get enough of Mexico. It was my 4th visit (and my husband’s first), and we’re already planning our next trip. Tulum is one of my favourite places in the country. Thanks for your comment.

My own honeymoon was supposed to be part of the destination wedding in Key West. I had planned a snorkeling trip but the weather was much too cold that February. We did rent bicycles and did a pub crawl the night before the wedding.
But I would say our real honeymoon was almost a year later when we flew to Fiji on the way to NZ and Australia. We stayed at an island resort for 4 nights. The hammock was in front of our bungalow, right on the beach. We actually fell asleep in it within 2 minutes of lying down. Fiji was snorkeling, kayaking and a boat tour to other islands.
Then there was a bunch of travel in NZ, both north and south islands. Finally, there was our new home for a year in Australia. We tried everything they suggested there. On our first anniversary, we took a surfing lesson.
Yes, we love active holidays. Mexico is also one of my favourite Caribbean destinations. I’ve been 5 times and will return, but in a different location. As you probably know, the culture and geography of Mexico is as varied as they are in Canada. That’s probably what I like best about it. And the warm people.
The next big honeymoon adventure (soon to celebrate 6 yrs) might be a sailboat cruise in Greece or a trip to South America. I have a big bucket, yes?

It’s so much more fun when you can actually DO something and remember the journey rather than just hanging out at a hotel or on a beach the whole time, even though I LOVE doing that too. Well rounded trips are the best ones. These are the ones you’ll remember for years to come—in exactly the same way that you’ve remembered every little detail from your many planned honeymoon trips and activates to the actual ones. So exciting that you’re planning your 6 year anniversary! My husband and I will be together 6 years this fall and will be celebrating our one year anniversary this summer! Wow, how time flies.
It sounds to me that you two love birds are still living your honeymoon and experiencing it everyday! How romantic.
Never stop dreaming a new dream! Big bucket lists are the best…
