Viva Las MEXICO! Mexico is a country that’s near and dear to mine and my husband’s hearts! From backpacking, turquoise adventures, all-in-luxury, to a hideaway honeymoon, our hearts remain and will forever stay with Mexico! As much as we love visiting new destinations (and we try really hard to do so), there is something special about Mexico that keeps luring us back. My husband Corey didn’t quite understand what I meant when I talked endlessly about my backpacking days in Mexico until he experienced it for the first time himself. Now that he’s been for our honeymoon and one year anniversary, Mexico has its full grip on his heart too! Have you ever been somewhere and left a part of yourself behind? Mexico is that place for us. Our hearts belong to Mexico. Mexico is a place where you can lose yourself, find yourself, and rediscover yourself all in one trip. Its white sand and turquoise waters has the mesmerizing power to transform your thinking and give your a clear perspective. It’s not surprising that when I heard of Modern Map Art’s (founded in 2016) new & fresh map prints, I just HAD to get my hands on one of their Enhanced Matte Mexico Map Posters for our home! Now we can put our love (and memories) of Mexico in the center of house!
Are you feeling muddled, disconnected, or foggy? That’s exactly how I felt when I first moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia. My husband and I finally had the blessing of moving back to the East Coast, but after living in four cities in less than twelve months it takes a toll on the mind, body, and spirit. Although we finally made it to the city where we wanted to be–our “home”, I felt ungrounded, disillusioned, and a bit lost. After numerous moves, countless flights, and world travels over the last few years, I couldn’t remember what ‘home’ felt or looked like. Although I’m originally from Nova Scotia, I never had the opportunity to live in Halifax. Our arrival was both exciting and overwhelming and with that came many unknowns. I didn’t know where we would live, where I would work, or what my life would look like being settled in one place after nearly 3 years of bouncing around and living out of suitcases. Halifax would be another new beginning and start over–the typical life of a pilot’s wife.
Many of you may have noticed that I have me M.I.A. If you read my July blog post We’re on the Move Again|Moving with the Tides to Halifax then you know that we’ve left Toronto behind for another adventure–we’re heading back to the east coast and to my home province this time: Nova Scotia. I haven’t lived in Nova Scotia since I graduated high school some 15 years ago and I’m ecstatic to make Nova Scotia my home once again. We are moving to our FOURTH city in less than 12 months and with this new transition, I have been consumed with the move and all that it involves as you would expect, especially when relocating to a new province. Although I am not actively posting here on the blog, I am regularly posting on social media: Instagram,Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest . If you want to stay up to date with what’s going on in my life reach out to me on social media as I would love to hear from you. Continue reading →
I’ve decided to start a “Turquoise Compass Approved” series on my blog where I highlight in each post five blogs, websites, lodging, products, trips, destinations, etc… which I’ve had positive personal experience with and/or have fallen in love with. After my travels around the world and experiences from living in different regions, I can’t help but share with my lovely turquoise lovin’ followers the ‘P’s’ I’m addicted to and have grown to love: the people, places, projects, and products from around the world!
First up for my first time first edition “Turquoise Compass Approved” are the handmade and Canadian products by companies I love: Bueteaful, Hint of Lime, Harmony Box, JustNatural Holistic Spa, and West Lake Cosmetics. Each company is Canadian (I love shopping local, especially from the province I’m living in) and make or promote handmade and natural products made in Canada. Who doesn’t love all-natural products made with environmentally-friendly ingredients that are not only good for us, but also good for the earth? I’ve tried and use products from each of these companies and I cannot help but share my digital-love for these one-of-a-kind companies. They’re Turquoise Compass Approved!
CONTEST TIME (open to Canadian mailing addresses): Enter to win some amazing all-natural handmade products made in Parry Sound, Ontario by the company West Lake Cosmetics. In collaboration with West Lake, we are GIVING AWAY FOUR Canadian made quality natural products free from parabens, chemicals, and petroleum products/by-products: vanilla solid lotion bar, lavender soap, cinnamon soap, and our Rose bath salts
