So I have been traveling for 3 months already! The time is going by so quickly! I still have 11 months to travel before I go back to work. I am really cherishing the time I have to travel, explore, and to do all the things I didn’t previously have time for. I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have an opportunity such as this. It is not everyday that someone can take a year off from their job to travel. I do not take this opportunity for granted. I’ve been saving up and waiting for this opportunity for 6 years; I am blessed that the time is finally here! During my ‘waiting’ years, I taught for 6 years, changed grade levels, bought a house, completed my Master’s in Education and principal’s certificate, and saved up. I worked hard to earn my year off. It’s Free in Vegas!
Everyone knows that Las Vegas can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. There are so many free activities in Vegas! It’s easy to stick to your budget when you take advantage of the freebees. If you know me, then you know that I like free! I am pretty frugal, so anything that will help me experience more by spending less, I am in! I was able to take advantage of many of the free attractions in Vegas. Many of the attractions made my trip!
Lost in Vegas for 6 Days
I was on the go non-stop in Vegas for 6 days! Most people say you don’t need more than a few days in Vegas… I now see why. Las Vegas kept me busy the entire time I was there. I constantly felt as though I was lost. Every hotel & casino is huge! There is just so much to see and do in Vegas, which didn’t leave me much time to relax by the pool. I didn’t go to Vegas for the gambling, but for the world famous hotels, shows, and events. With 6 days in Vegas my options were endless. Las Vegas is a place I always wanted to visit. There is so much hype about Vegas; I wanted to see what it’s all about and to check it out for myself. I tried to see as much as I could in the 6 days that I was there, as I don’t know when I’ll be able to return. Vegas is one of those places I had to visit at least once in my lifetime. With so many places in the world to visit, I’m not sure when I’ll be making it back. I definitely got to experience what Vegas is all about.
What to do with 6 days in Vegas:
Walk along Las Vegas Blvd and tour the many luxurious hotel properties. I visited Circus Circus, Flamingo, New York-New York, Mirage, Bellagio, Paris, Excalibur, Planet Hollywood, Ceasers, Harrah’s, Treasure Island, Quad, Palazzo, Monte Carlo, The Venetian, Wyndham Grand Desert, and Freemont Street Experince. Each hotel and casino is unique and has so much to offer. You can get lost in the hotels for hours wondering around the amazing free exhibits. From botanical gardens to flamingos, they have it all.
Photo of the Week- Vegas at Night
This is one of my favourite pictures from my recent trip to Last Vegas. This picture was taken from the top of the Eiffel tower at Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. With the Vegas Eiffel tower half the height of the original Eiffel tower, I was able to get an exceptional view of the strip at night, while also watching the Bellagio fountain show from above.
You Have to Try ‘Flight-Lining’
Flightlinez Bootleg Canyon offers “flight-lining”, a faster version of zipling, over Bootleg Canyon in Boulder City, Nevada. Conveniently located 30 minutes from the Las Vegas strip, Flightlinez offers two and a half hours of adrenaline pumping adventure away from the sights and sounds of Vegas. After trying Flightlinez, I’m hooked; the faster the better! I can’t wait to go again and try Flighlinez at one of their other locations. Zooming at up to 75mph above the desert canyons was a once in a life time experience for me. You have to try it!

Turquoise Thursday: Turquoise Treasures in Las Vegas
During my week in Las Vegas, I was on the hunt for turquoise treasures. With Las Vegas being in the middle of the largest desert in the United States, I was sceptical whether or not I would find any hidden turquoise gems in the concrete city. Surprising, I found some turquoise treasures in Vegas; some involving water, others not. Las Vegas really has it all…
Lake Mead, Nevada:
Turquoise M&M’s at M&M World on Las Vegas Blvd.:
Soaring Above Bootleg Canyon
Flightlinez Bootleg Canyon is located approximately 30 minutes outside of Las Vegas in Bootleg Canyon, Boulder City, Nevada. With Flightlinez such a short distance from Las Vegas (and shuttle service provided from Excalibur), Flightlinez is the perfect extreme adventure to get away from all the chaos on the strip. At some point during your Las Vegas experience you might want a break from all the action. The views atop Red Mountain of: Boulder City, Bootleg Canyon, and Las Vegas was well worth the trip alone.
