Viva Las MEXICO! Mexico is a country that’s near and dear to mine and my husband’s hearts! From backpacking, turquoise adventures, all-in-luxury, to a hideaway honeymoon, our hearts remain and will forever stay with Mexico! As much as we love visiting new destinations (and we try really hard to do so), there is something special about Mexico that keeps luring us back. My husband Corey didn’t quite understand what I meant when I talked endlessly about my backpacking days in Mexico until he experienced it for the first time himself. Now that he’s been for our honeymoon and one year anniversary, Mexico has its full grip on his heart too! Have you ever been somewhere and left a part of yourself behind? Mexico is that place for us. Our hearts belong to Mexico. Mexico is a place where you can lose yourself, find yourself, and rediscover yourself all in one trip. Its white sand and turquoise waters has the mesmerizing power to transform your thinking and give your a clear perspective. It’s not surprising that when I heard of Modern Map Art’s (founded in 2016) new & fresh map prints, I just HAD to get my hands on one of their Enhanced Matte Mexico Map Posters for our home! Now we can put our love (and memories) of Mexico in the center of house!
My husband and I received amazing service at the Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun for our tropical honeymoon in Mexico, Mayan Riviera. We were pleasantly surprised when after checking in to the hotel we were offered the Honeymoon Package for FREE! From the beginning, our honeymoon started off to an incredible start at the Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun for a week of bliss in Mexico. Included in the honeymoon package, we received a complimentary romantic massage for two at the Royal Spa, use of the Nordic spa services, romantic dinner for two on the beach with bottle service, sparkling wine and chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our room, Jacuzzi drawn baths throughout the week, and nightly turn down service! Not only that, what we remember the most from our honeymoon are the little EXTRAS and 5 star SERVICE. Continue reading →
Here are our favourite images from our relaxing and luxurious honeymoon in Mexico from our stay at the Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun including the TOP 20 turquoise inspiredphotos which I posted on Instagram & Twitter. The Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun is an all-in-luxury adults-only hotel located just 15 minutes from the Cancun International Airport–in Mexico’s Caribbean paradise. The 340 room boutique-style Hideaway is an all-inclusive hotel located within the Royalton Riviera Cancun. The staff are warm and friendly, the rooms are modern and spacious, the property is tranquil, the food is delicious, and all of this is only the tip of the ice berg. Guests staying at the Hideaway receive diamond service and are guaranteed a week of extravagance from the relaxing spa services, unlimited reservation-free dining, exclusive à la carte restaurant and bars, top shelf drink selections, to “room service” delivered right to your beach lounger (yes, you read that right, food and drinks brought directly to YOU on the beach). It doesn’t get much better than this! Our week at the Hideaway was everything we could have ever asked for (and more) to create the perfect relaxing and romantic honeymoon on a spectacular turquoise beach. Heaven.
I know you’ve been anxiously waiting for an update about our out-of-this-world honeymoon. Our honeymoon along the Caribbean turquoise coast in Mexico was spectacular! I don’t even know where to begin! We had it all…turquoise paradise, relaxation, romance, and adventure. Here are our TOP 10 favourite adventurous photos from our honeymoon in Mexico, Mayan Riviera from our ATV trek through the Mayan jungle, underground cave swimming in Cenote Estrella, explorations at the Tulum Ruins, and getting our feet wet at the Tulum Ruins Beach with Adventuras Mayas.
Who says you can’t ‘adventure’ when honeymooning? I’m all about relaxing on a beautiful turquoise beach, but we also wanted ADVENTURE! We got it all.
Are you with me? What’s your perfect type of travel? Continue reading →
So it’s official, we’re starting 2016 off right with a honeymoon in MEXICO at the Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun. Kicking off the New Year cannot get any better than this. We can’t wait for the sun, sand, and sea! Departure in 5 days!
After much encouragement from friends and family, I decided to start a blog in 2013 to document my 14 months of full time travel around the world. In the beginning phases of setting up my blog, I was stumped for a couple weeks thinking about an appropriate name for my blog. I had no idea what to call it. I wanted something that represented my life, my dreams, and my travel journey. I had thought of a few names (Turquoise Trunk was one of them), but they didn’t seem to quite fit. I couldn’t help but keep coming back to the word turquoise. I knew I somehow had to incorporate it into my blog name. Unfortunately, Turquoise Life was already taken, but even Turquoise Life didn’t seem to be perfect for me. I needed something that had to do with the beach, coastal life, traveling, teaching, living life to the fullest, and self discovery. I thought long and hard about what other words and/or phrases would fit well with turquoise, while also encapsulating everything about me. It was a hard task I had at hand. Continue reading →
To conclude the Mexican Diaries series, I’ve enjoyed sharing one of my most treasured turquoise trips. This trip has shaped me into the person and traveler that I am today. It’s brought back so many pleasant memories which has me yet again, planning another adventure in Mexico (which would be the 4th time there). From landing in Mexico as a female backpacker for the first time, being scared crapless, traveling solo in Quintana Roo, crazy adventures in the Yucatan, the exhilaration of the backpacking life in Campeche, the journey to and from Belize, stumbling upon my favorite destination in Mexico, to ending my trip in one of the most beautiful islands in the world…Mexico is “that trip” for me. Mexico has it all.
