How to Spend 6 Weeks on Australia’s East Coast and See it All!

Coolangatta, Gold Coast

It is hard to believe that I have been in Australia for over two months now. The time is flying by. With only two more weeks, my time in Australia is quickly coming to an end. My first 6 weeks were spent on the spectacular East Coast. I traveled from New South Whales, through the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and all the way up to Northern Queensland. How can I sum up my first 6 weeks in Australia in just one blog post? I am not sure that I can, but I will try. The East Coast gave me my first impressions of Australia, while allowing me countless opportunities to check off items on my bucket list. The East Coast was a dream come true. Continue reading

Invincible and Hang Gliding over Byron Bay

Flight Zone

The view of Tallow Beach from above

Australia is one of those places which provides travelers unlimited options to complete items on their bucket list. I was able to accomplish yet another item on my 2014 bucket list: Hang Gliding. Flight Zone took me flying over Byron Bay like a Eagle searching for its prey. With views of Byron Bay, Tallow Beach, Byron Bay Lighthouse, and the wild wallabies below, I was left wondering in that moment if life could get any better. Continue reading

Escaping the City for the Blue Mountains

As much as I love cities, there is something to be said about driving out of the city to the mountains. The Blue Mountains outside of Sydney, Australia are one of the most impressive mountain ranges I have ever seen. As a Canadian, I think it is pretty hard to top the Western Canadian Mountain ranges in British Columbia and Alberta, but the Blue Mountains are unlike anything I have ever set my eyes on.

Making a Sydney List, Checking it Twice

Nine days in Sydney, Australia is ample opportunity to see everything Sydney has to offer and more. There is so much to do and see in the areas surrounding Sydney as well, including unlimited stunning beaches. As a busy-bee traveler, I make sure I don’t miss any iconic sights (hopefully I didn’t). I made a list of all the places I wanted to see and I accomplished my list and more. There were a few places (beaches of course) I even had the opportunity to see twice. Each suburb, neighbourhood, and area of Sydney has a unique feel about it so I wanted to stop in each area to get the best taste of Sydney. Continue reading

360 Degree View of Turquoise in Sydney

Turquoise Thursday: Sydney, Australia

The thing I like best about Australia are the endless 360 degree views of turquoise! This is definitely the place for me. There is no doubt in my mind that Australia was a brilliant move on my part. I’ve always dreamed of visiting Australia and it truly is everything I imagined, if not better than I imagined. With each destination that I visit, the views keep getting better and better. I often ask myself ‘can it really get any better than this?’. It does. I’m amazed by everything that I see. Continue reading

Walking Sydney

After my perfect arrival and welcoming to Australia in Coogee Beach, the sun went away and the clouds came. Unfortunately, it rained and was cloudy for the first few days after I arrived. Instead of moping, I got off my bottom and got walking. I decided to explore the down town Sydney area by foot while saving the beaches for upcoming sunny days. Continue reading

First Stop in Australia: Coogee Beach

Turquoise Thursday: Coogee Beach, Australia

Coogee Beach

Coogee BeachAfter flying 15 hours from Los Angeles to Sydney I finally arrived in Australia after my long awaited planning. I lost an entire day flying to Australia and I am now a day ahead. I landed at 6:30 in the morning after flying all night. The excitement and exhilaration of landing in Australia got my heart pumping and adrenaline flowing. I was ready to go. The last thing on my mind was sleep even though my night in coach was far from satisfactory. The first place I wanted to go was none other than…the beach. Any beach. A beach. Period. Continue reading
