Canada’s East Coast Beaches are the Bomb

Nova ScotiaNova ScotiaMy happy place is the beach. I am in my element if by the sea. No matter how rotten of a day I’ve just had, if I make my way to the ocean I know I’ll be alright. My heart has always belonged to the east coast of Canada, and maybe that’s partly because its my home. Even after visiting 32 countries around the world and putting my toes in the sands of countless beaches, I’m still partial to Canada’s east coast beaches. I would prefer if the waters were a bit more turquoise, that palm trees lined the coast, and that the temperatures were a lot more tropical, but my heart and soul belongs to Atlantic Canada’s beaches, especially the ones in southern Nova Scotia. Enjoying Atlantic Canada’s Fall Season at the Beach

New BrunswickNew BrunswickAlthough I am no longer in a tropical destination or exotic location, there is no reason why I can’t still enjoy my favorite place–the beach. Now that I am back in Canada, I can appreciate being in one location for longer than a couple weeks. I am lucky enough to live by the coast so I can enjoy the place I always want to be–by the sea. In this moment, I can savour in the ability of still experiencing my passion in my home country: Canada. Continue reading

Aquamarine Paradise Adventure

Guest Post by: Lizard 100 Blog

The Indonesian archipelago stretches across a significant distance in East Asia. Tiny islands suspended like jewels on an ocean of a thousand aquamarine shades. The exotic names conjure up images of tropical paradise. Bali, Lombok, Jakarta, Padangbai. Up until recently I’ve always considered myself more tourist than traveller. An agent would design a trip for me and paid up in advance we’d follow their instructions carefully, but this time I was determined to do it myself. How hard could it be? I found some good value flights and selected some dates. The destination? The Gili islands. Three tiny specks on the Indonesian map. An idyllic destination so small you can walk around them. So small there’s no cars, only pony and trap or bicycle.

Sailing and Paddling Clear Turquoise Water in Cuba

Sailing and Paddling

Sailing and Paddling

As you may have guessed, or probably already know by now… I love the ocean. Being on, or in the sea is the best place to be (no rhyme intended- that’s the English teacher in me coming out). Whenever I get the chance, I’ll find a way to be on a beach doing what I do best: walking on the beach, wadding in its sultry water, laying in the sand under the warm sun, or being active on it/in it. What goes hand in hand with being a beach bum? My passion for water sports! While in Cuba, I had the chance to sail the spectacular turquoise water on a catamaran and paddle my way through the stunning turquoise blue Caribbean sea. Continue reading

Hotel Cayo Santa Maria in Cuba is considered one of the top rated five star hotels in Cayo Santa Maria. After a week long getaway at Hotel Cayo Santa Maria I can see why its considered a luxurious destination for vacationers. As a backpacker and down to earth traveler it’s not often that I get the opportunity to stay a resort. Typically I much prefer to travel my way through a country from city to city and hostel to hostel. However, there are times when I crave a holiday just like anyone else. After 5 months of traveling my way through Canada, U.S., Australia, and New Zealand, I knew it was time for a beach getaway to relax, recoup, rejuvenate, and get ready for my next long haul backpacking adventure through Europe!
