I’m always on the hunt for Canadian made quality natural products free from parabens, chemicals, and petroleum products/by-products. I’m sure you’re with me when I say that I want to know what’s in the products I use and put on my body. Natural products are not only good for us, but they’re also good for the environment. I was lucky enough to be introduced to West Lake Cosmetics on Instagram by a fellow Canadian blogger Couper from Happy Life Pilot Wife who loves using all-natural local products from her home province Ontario, but especially loves West Lake Cosmetics! She told me that she and her family are addicted to the Rosemary Lavender Shampoo Bar. With that being said, I was instantly intrigued, went over to West Lake’s Intstagram account to browse their many photos and immediately wanted to try a shampoo bar myself (among other products), especially since I have never tried one before. When I think of sunglasses I first think of hot temperatures, humid weather, palm trees, and relaxing on a turquoise beach with a refreshment in hand! Yet, sunglasses are required wherever I travel. When packing for a trip, my sunglasses are one of the first items I pack. I don’t go anywhere without them–regardless of season or destination. Although I am no longer in a hot tropical climate (oh, how I miss Mexico), I’m needing my sunglasses now more than ever before. Regardless of the temperature nothing will stop me from getting outside and enjoying life. I know, I must sound crazy! I’ll find adventure wherever I am! My new designer-style Savannah Sunglasses {I was sent a free pair of glasses to try out} are the perfect winter accessory to help me enjoy my explorations in Northeastern Ontario–the outdoor lover’s paradise. I’ve heard that winters in northern Ontario can be cold, harsh, and unforgiving. On the other hand, I’ve also heard that the best time of the year in the north is when the snow arrives and stays for good. I’ve been told that northern Ontario has the most to offer during its winter months for their best fluffy snow, amazing cross country skiing and snowshoe trails, ice fishing, and some of Canada’s best snowmobiling trails. Visitors travel from all over to experience what northern Ontario has to offer. It’s a winter lover’s playground. I’ve experienced glimpses of what winters are like during past visits, from snow covered wildlife tours to playing with alpacas in the snow, but I’ve never lived through an entire season. I’m up for the challenge. I have never been partial to the winter season and was usually depressed the minute fall arrived because I knew it meant one thing…winter is coming. This year was different. I enjoyed every moment of fall and instead of dreading what’s to come, I lived in the moment awaiting (and preparing) its expected arrival. I wasn’t hopeless at the first sight of snow in September, but rather full of hope and excitement for new possibilities, adventure, and a season full of winter sports and exploration. That’s what northern living is all about right? Continue reading
Thanks to SelectSpecs {I was sent a free pair of glasses to try out}, I finally have a pair of frames that suit my face, style, and personality. The pictures you have seen with me wearing glasses are probably only the ones with me wearing sunglasses in the tropics or in other sunny destinations. Not wearing prescription frames. Up until this point, I have actually never posted any pictures of me wearing prescription glasses on my blog or social media pages—until now…I’ve had glasses since I was around 13, but always had a hard time picking out a pair that suited my face, style, and personality (more importantly, a pair I thought I looked good wearing). Have you ever had that problem? With my new prescription glasses from the Economy Glasses Collection, I’ll want to wear them more often because they’re amazing–and I think I look fabulous in them! As a yoga practitioner and newbie yoga teacher, I’m feeling strong and confident with my new Dusky Leaf Natural Rubber Yoga Mat (you can also find the mat in the Canadian store), which provides one of the highest-traction surfaces available. Since graduating from my Yoga Teacher Training, I’ve started teaching yoga this fall and have been teaching for two months now. Using Dusky Leaf’s Natural Rubber Mat gives me a superior degree of slip resistance provided by the open-cell structure of the natural tree rubber, which is essential when teaching and demonstrating postures. Using a yoga mat that is made from natural rubber gives me a level of cushioning and resilience that is not often seen in a synthetic material, which is crucial when practicing up to 6 days a week. When teaching and practicing on my Dusky Leaf rubber mat I don’t have to worry about what my mat is doing or whether or not my hands and feet are slipping, but rather I can focus on the articulation of the yoga posture–my yoga practice itself. With my hands and feet rooted, I can move with ease from posture to posture. The natural rubber mat’s cushioning, resilience, and traction has become the foundation of my solid practice–strong and supported. Continue reading
