As my time in the north comes to an end, I am starting a new chapter with my husband Corey with my MOVE TO TORONTO TOMORROW! Toronto will be our new home base for the time being. A new story begins; when one door closes another door opens. Adventure lies ahead (and lots of travel opportunities with Porter Airlines & Porter Escapes). Although I am saddened to leave my new job and amazing friends behind (is it an option to take them with me?), I am READY, OPEN, and EXCITED for what’s to come.
With the winter season coming to an end, I’ve been in a mad rush to accomplish the remainder of my winter wish-list items. Have a look at some of my most recent winter experiences which I checked off my bucket list in Timmins, Ontario in the article I wrote for Northeastern Ontario Tourism: March Break Activities in Timmins for the Whole Family! What’s left on your winter bucket list?
Tubing at Kamiskotia Snow Resort:
March seems to be the month for rest, reprieve, and replenishing after the long winter season in Northeastern Ontario. I’m slowly coming out of hibernation. I can’t believe it–I’ve nearly survived my first winter in the north! Thanks to good advice from the locals of how to survive the winter and a mighty stock of winter-wear, I’m nearly there. I’ve kept myself busy by sampling the best in area from yoga, outdoor sports, and winter adventures, to warm spa experiences. I don’t think I would have made it through the winter season without a balance of outdoor expeditions and relaxing indoor activities to follow. I needed something to sooth my cool body and frost bitten skin after being outside for hours on end. With spring in sight, I’m looking forward to more sunny days, blue skies, and the end of winter. I can’t thank Colleen of Beautiful You Aesthetics enough for treating me to my first Seacret mineral mud facial. Surely the minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, essential oils, and natural ingredients derived from the Dead Sea will awaken and rejuvenate my deprived skin and prepare it for what’s to come. “Spring is a time to find out where you are, who you are, and move toward where you are going” – Penelope Trunk. Thank you Colleen for helping me peel the layers back so to speak and preparing my soul for new beginnings and unknown journeys.

Life is too short not live the way you want. After my wedding, I decided to move to northern Ontario for the time being to be with my husband. Just another adventure! I’ve lived in a handful of places, been to over 30 countries, backpacked my way around the world–why not add another experience to the list? Corey has been based in the north working as a commercial pilot for Thunder Airlines for two years. We figured it was high time we were both in the same city for longer than a few days at a time. For nearly two years, we commuted back and forth from wherever we were to be together. Whether it was me flying back from Australia or another continent during my around-the-world travels or him flying to the east coast when I went back to work, we both added miles to our log book. Distance makes the heart grow fonder which is so true, but we’re so much better together. Our wedding marked a good excuse for us to be based in the same city. After one of my best childhood friends passed away in May it was then when I realized just how short life is and that I should always follow my heart. I’m committed to saying ‘yes’ to life and taking as many leaps of faith as it takes to make my dreams come true. Continue reading

JustNatural Holistic Spa has expanded and has a brand new location in downtown Timmins! The first time I visited Chrislynn at JustNatural Holistic Spa in the winter of 2014, I sampled the best of what the at-home spa had to offer; I partook in a sensory journey which included: a warm foot soak treatment, leg scrub, a full facial, back massage, and body scrub, mask, and wrap. With Chrislynn’s one-on-one spa care and unique personal touches, my hyperactive and busy-body soul was quickly soothed in the serene and tranquil environment. My second visit to JustNatural Holistic Spa was recently this summer when I had the opportunity to see the spa in its full glory after its recent renovations at its new location. Chrislynn graciously took the time out of her day to give me a tour of the new facility. From the moment I walked into the spa I felt as if I was transported to a modern urban spa in a big city abroad. The vaulted ceilings, natural wood frames, modern décor, and down to earth accents make the spa one of kind in the northern region. It wasn’t long before I found myself in the spa boutique sampling products and making myself right at home. I can’t wait to try out one of their uniquely designed services.
