Turquoise Compass is a lifestyle and travel blog devoted to living life to the fullest, dreaming a new dream, traveling, and doing yoga. Turquoise Compass encompasses saying ‘yes’ to life, taking advantage of every opportunity that comes up, while navigating to make your dreams come true. Initially, Turquoise Compass started to document my around-the-world travels during my sabbatical from my teaching position. Leaving my secure job and comfortable home for a life on the road changed my life. My backpacking adventure brought me to 22 countries, and although my full-time travels have come to an end, my journey is far from over. My life has never been the same. I’m still traveling locally, within Canada, and sometimes abroad, but now just half the time. I’ve been to over 30 countries and I’m ready to see more!

I learned that a life worth living doesn’t have to be one in which is always on the move–a balance of living, dreaming, traveling, and doing yoga is the life I want. Turquoise Compass celebrates life’s small and big accomplishments, regardless of where you are. Whether at home or abroad, I’m exploring this wonderful world–treasures can be found all around us. I’ve lived in over 5 locations and in various countries and am always open to packing up and hitting the wide open road. Regardless of where I am, I’m living life and having fun. The life I want to live. There is something to be said about a life with one foot at ‘home’ and one away. Home is where the heart is, so who says home needs to be in exactly the same place? I leave a piece of my heart in each destination that I visit, while gaining something to take back with me in return. Explore with me!
Where in the world is Jessica now? I’m currently based in northern Ontario for a northern Canadian experience.

As a Maritimer and born and raised east coast Canadian, my heart belongs to Atlantic Canada. No wonder I love being by the ocean! I’m an educator and certified registered yoga teacher, but my true passion is traveling (especially to totally tropical turquoise destinations), adventure, and trying new things. I’ve completed hundreds of items on my bucket lists, but my lists continues to grow. I always make sure to try something unique in each destination that I visit. When I’m not traveling or on an adventure, I’m educating, doing/teaching yoga, and maintaining a healthy balanced lifestyle.

I’ve attained a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in History, a Major in English, and a minor in Social Science, a Bachelor of Education in Elementary and Secondary Education, a Master’s in Education in Curriculum & Instruction and Administration, a Principal’s Certificate, and a 400 hour double certification yoga teacher training. What’s next? My 500 hour advanced yoga teacher training is in progress.
